The Befriending Scheme and our members celebrated St. Valentines Day with a lovely party at the Stevenson Centre in Great Cornard.
Over 70 guests enjoyed the night, run entirely by volunteers who provided wonderful food, live music & entertainment and helped people get to and from the party.
Our culinary genius for the night was Claire Suddaby, who kept everyone well fed with a feast fit for St. Valentine himself. Our members commented how much they enjoyed the food and the desserts (make sure to check out our Sunday Lunch Club that Claire is organising…starting THIS Sunday!) and as the photos show, this wasn’t just food… this was GREAT FOOD!
Meanwhile own Rob Taylor & Will Ginno took to the stage, with an acoustic set of 60’s hits and modern classics, followed by a second set from Rob with favourites such as “I’m A Believer”, “Johnny B. Goode” and a version of Pharrell’s “Happy” that saw everyone dancing, singing and clapping along!
DJ duties were taken by our volunteer John, who kept everyone dancing and our raffle and other games like Pick A Stick and Guess The Love Hearts In The Jar were also great successes, thanks to Eva, Ange, Sally & Ros. Prizes were donated by such wide ranging places as Coes of Ipswich, Ipswich Town FC, The Regal in Stowmarket and Gu puddings.
Overall, we raised over £250 for The Befriending Scheme, but most importantly, our members, volunteers and guests had a night that none of us will forget!
We’d like to offer a great big thank you to everyone who came to the party, gave their time or services or donated a prize, helping to make this an incredible night.
