“Hi, my name is Toni and I am the Training Manager at TBS. My role is to design, develop and implement training programmes for our members to help them develop their life skills to live more independently. I am also responsible for meeting the training needs of our staff members and our volunteers.
I love meeting our members to learn about what skills they want to develop and then designing short interactive courses to help them achieve that. It is very rewarding when I see something I have taught them put into action and I know they will be safer and happier for it.

The team I work with at TBS are great and have a clear passion for what they do, I enjoy working with them to design or source training to help them develop in their roles and ultimately support our members better and make TBS a stronger and more sustainable organisation.”

“Hi, my name is Rob and I am the Marketing & Promotions Officer for TBS. I work to raise the profile of TBS and our work in the media, with the public and with other organisations so they know who we are and how they can help us to help our members.
I love talking about TBS, our members & volunteers, so more people understand what we do, why we do it and how important it is to get involved. I love to get involved myself, whether taking photos of a hub, singing at an event, giving a talk or just having a chat with our members at a hub group about their interests. It’s great to see smiling faces and just how much difference TBS makes first hand.

Danielle O’Connor

One-To-One Link Co-Ordinator

“Hi there! I’m Danielle, the 1:1 Link Co-Ordinator at The Befriending Scheme. I work with individuals aged 25 and above across Suffolk.

My role is to create and manage 1:1 friendships between members and volunteers. Although friendships usually begin with a person volunteering their time, more often than not I see members and volunteers becoming genuine friends. As well as our members, our volunteers have the opportunity to build experience and confidence through the training opportunities that we offer.

Our volunteers are the heart of The Befriending Scheme, they offer our members companionship, support and opportunities to broaden our members’ experiences in life.

We are always looking for new volunteers who are willing to become a friend and make a difference to that person’s life. If this is something you would like to do please get in touch, I would love to speak with you more about how you can make that difference!”

The Bury St Edmunds  Hub is a warm friendly group where adults with learning disabilities can come and meet new friends, learn about and experience new things and have fun in a safe, welcoming environment. We do a variety of different activities, but usually always have arts and crafts, and games, including the favourite, Bingo.
