On Saturday 30th September 2023, between 1 - 4 PM, The Befriending Scheme held the Red Rose Community Farm Open Day and the turn out from the local community was absolutely brilliant!
It was amazing to see the farm so busy, with people of all ages, exploring the site!
Throughout the afternoon guided tours of the farm were held and refreshments of hot / cold drinks and lots of delicious cake were provided. There were farm themed craft activities on offer, Boccia and children’s games for all the family to enjoy.
Special guests included:
The High Sheriff of Suffolk - Mark Pendlington, The Mayor of Sudbury and her Consort - Councillor Jan Osbourne and Councillor Adrian Osbourne, Deputy Political Leader and Cabinet Member (Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council) John Ward, South Suffolk MP - James Cartlidge and of course residents of Lidsey.
As part of the short address from CEO Shirley Moore, a huge thank you was given to The Befriending Scheme staff team and amazing volunteer team, that made the event possible. And of course a tremendous thank you to the farm members, “who we do it all for In the first place - a group of people who are often overlooked by society meaning they often miss out on the same opportunities as other people.”
Red Rose Community farm is so very proud to be able to provide a safe, inclusive outdoor space, enabling learning opportunities and friendship for vulnerable adults in Suffolk.
